Taking Action in Enforcement Cases

Your divorce or paternity case has been resolved. You've got a piece of paper that tells you what you get in terms of child custody and visitation, child support, spousal support or property division. The other side has a piece of paper telling them what they need to do. What if they don't do it?

At the Law Office of Marie I. Braun, we know how to work with the court to see that all judgments are enforced. In Placentia, Fullerton and throughout Southern California, people turn to us for help with these matters. They get representation from an attorney with more than 15 years of experience getting results in the most difficult cases.

The fact of the matter is that the other side is legally required to do what the judgment tells them to do. If it tells them to sell the house and turn over a certain amount of the money they make, that's something they are obligated to do. If it tells them they need to let you see your children on the weekends, they have to do it. If it tells them to pay child or spousal support, they have to do it.

If they don't, they are breaking the law. They can be subject to enforcement actions and held in contempt of court. Our law firm will take the necessary action to see that they either do what they are supposed to do, or that they are punished appropriately.

Getting the Right Outcome Through Enforcement Actions

The right outcome is usually simply to get the other side to do what they are supposed to do. We want them to catch up on child support and alimony payments, to provide access to the children and to turn over the property they are required to. Sometimes, it takes a trip to court to accomplish this. The court may charge them with contempt, and they may face jail time in certain situations.
